Johnson staff page photo Dr. Johnson is the Director of UAB Office of Education Abroad and the Head of the U.S. Department of State Passport Acceptance Facility at UAB.  His duties include strategic planning, operations oversight, fiscal administration, and personnel management for the office.  He also teaches World Regional Geography, Geography of North America, and Urban Geography.  In addition, he serves as national Chairman of the Association of American Geographers Stand-Alone Geographers affinity group.  

Dr. Johnson earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in Geography from Indiana University and his B.S. in Secondary Education, also from Indiana University.  As an undergraduate, he studied abroad for a semester in Australia.  His recent travels include Britain, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Canada, Macedonia, Switzerland, and Botswana.
