Program Length and Semesters Available
Program lengths vary from one week abroad to one year abroad. Semester and yearlong programs are much more cost effective than short term summer programs. You also get a more immersive experience the longer you are abroad. Shorter-term summer programs are also available.
Programs are available spanning the fall semester, spring semester, academic year, calendar year, summer, Thanksgiving Break, and Spring Break.

The earlier you start planning, the more smoothly the application process will go. The Office of Education Abroad recommends you start researching programs and meet with a Peer Counselor about a year before departure.
The best time to go abroad is during your sophomore or junior year, so you need to start planning during your freshman or sophomore year.
