The Universidad de Jaén is a medium-sized public university with about 16,000 students that welcomes international students. The university is centered at Campus Las Lagunillas in the city of Jaén and a few colleges can also be found at Linares and Úbeda. Both campuses are wheelchair accessible.
Classes are taught at UJA in both English and Spanish.
Jaén, population 115,000, is capital city of the province of Andalucía, in southern Spain. The area is an inland paradise of sierras, open countryside, and fertile lowland orchards. Jaén has the largest protected natural areas in all of Spain. The scenic River Guadalquivir is born here, in the heart of the Nature Park of the Sierras of Cazorla, Segura, and Las Villas. Jaén is well known for the Cathedral of Jaen, Castle of Santa Catalina, and the 60 million olives trees that produce the best oil in the world. Halfway between Madrid and Seville, well connected by motorway and train, Jaén enjoys a pleasant, warm climate during most of the year.
While attending the University of Jaén, you will enroll in 5 classes, each worth 3 U.S. semester hour credits. Some classes may be more or less credits. To determine the number of U.S. semester hour credits for a class, you may use the following conversion: 2 ETCS is equivalent to 1 U.S. semester hour credit. Each class that you will take at the University of Jaén must be approved by UAB via the course articulation process.
Course articulation is the process that determines the UAB equivalent for the foreign courses you will take. Course articulation is a vital component of planning your experience. This process starts when you submit, to the Office of Education Abroad, a syllabus for each course you intend to take while abroad. Then the Office of Education Abroad works with the UAB Registrar, UAB department chairs, and advisors to determine the UAB course equivalency for each of your intended courses.
Many classes at the University of Jaén have already been articulated. To review the list of pre-articulated classes, please click on the Courses Offered link above. To review all classes available at the University of Jaén, please click here.
