Program Description:

The University of Nottingham, a world-class research university of 40,000 students, seeks to ensure that the learning and living environments on campus are the best they can be. The campus buildings and greenspace inspire and display the university's commitment to environmental sustainability and continual innovation. The campus is surrounded by 300 acres of picturesque landscaping and centered on a boating lake.  Furthermore, the campus is located next to Wollaton Hall, a spectacular Elizabethan mansion and park.  The University of Nottingham offers a variety of course in Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Business

Follow the rich legacy and history of Robin Hood to Sherwood and legendary landmarks in tandem with the urban and modern metropolis of Nottingham. You will never experience a dull moment with the abundance of art galleries, museums, festivals, and restaurants. Hop on a bike to see the city of Nottingham and the surrounding country side along the finest biking trails in the country. There is also a world to explore below the city streets: a system of sand stone caves. Located in the central part of England, Nottingham is a short train ride away from the rest of the United Kingdom with excellent connections beyond.

While attending the University of Nottingham, you will enroll in 3 classes, each worth 5 U.S. semester hour credits. Some classes may be more or fewer credits. Each Nottingham credit equals 0.25 U.S. semester hour credits. Each class that you will take at the University of Nottingham must be approved by UAB via the course articulation process.
Course articulation is the process that determines the UAB equivalent for the foreign courses you will take and is a vital component of planning your experience. This process starts when you submit, to the Office of Education Abroad, a syllabus for each course you intend to take while abroad. Then the Office of Education Abroad works with the UAB Registrar, UAB department chairs, and advisors to determine the UAB course equivalency for each of your intended courses.
We are excited to have the The University of Nottingham as our newest exchange.  As UAB/Nottingham course equivalencies become available, they will be listed in the Courses Offered link above. To review all classes available at the University of Nottingham, please click here.

Courses are available in Accounting, Aerospace Studies, American Studies, Anthropology, Art History, Art Studio, Biochemical and Molecular Genetics, Biology, Biotechnology, Business, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Counseling, Human Services, Economics, Education, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering, English, Environmental Science, Finance, Foreign Languages, French, Geography, German, History, Humanities, International Business, International Studies, Justice Sciences, Kinesiology, Legal Studies, Management, Material Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Microbiology, Music, Natural Sciences/Math, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Nutrition Sciences, Philosophy, Physical Science, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Spanish, and Theatre.

Nottingham won't just be a place to study - it'll be your new home for the next few years. For many students, life in student accommodation provides some of their happiest memories. There are 12 residence options on the University Park campus.

There are catered and self-catered options with a variety of room types. Catered halls come with a meal plan similar to UAB residence halls. However, a nice addition unlike UAB is the housekeeping service provided for your room biweekly. There are also a lot of fun activities hosted in the residence halls each month.

There are off campus options however we recommend you take advantage of the great on-campus facilities of Nottingham.

Visit the University of Nottingham’s Accommodation website for more information and to start reviewing your options.
